which way do i turn my trussrod to lower the action? the guitar is a peavey tracer, kahler spyder tremolo(blocked off), hockey stick style headstock(think gibson explorer).

Have you tried to lower the action yet at the bridge/tremelo? If you're wanting to ad a backbow to the neck then you need to tighten it. This has always been weird to explain, as it depends on how you're holding the guitar. These aren't too bad instructions:

Whoa, thar! Get that idea out of your head! Lowering the action should never be a reason for tweaking the truss rod. That's just asking for trouble. True, the truss rod may need adjustment AFTER you lower the action, but don't ever adjust the truss rod in place of raising or lowering the bridge. Sorry if I came off strong, but I don't want to see you ruin a neck.
