NWD!

Cat In The Hatministrator
New Wah Day! I've been using a Pedaltrain Nano in my latest band, as I don't need everything on my big board. I thought it was about time to get that board right so here's the first addition! Dunlop Crybaby Mini! Looking forward to giving it a blast!

Re: NWD!

The 2 behind it are probably going on, all centered around my Plexitone prototype.

Re: NWD!

I so wanna try a Regenerator man.

How good is the Vibe mode? I understand it's expression-pedal controllable.

Re: NWD!

Diego, I haven't ever used an expression pedal with it but it does have an input for one. The Vibe is 'Vibe-lite'. It gives a vibey sound, but with less intense 'throb' as I recall. I'll most likely use the Vintage Chorus and Phaser most, but the Vibe is good fun to play with.

Re: NWD!

It's a great drive. I've still got to play it and give it a tweak in this setup, but I've used 2 on my big board before. One was set to give a really nice crunchy drive and the other as a boost. It's flexible enough to cover both applications easily. You can get those classic Tubescreamer sounds, but adjust the EQ to suit the room/guitar/amp etc. On my big board one was on pretty much all of the time.

Re: NWD!

Thats an awesome lil board!! how is the mini wah? I wondered if they would be kinda hard to use as far a foot position and stuff.

Re: NWD!

I used the board at a jam night on Thursday. First try of the wah and I was really pleased. There's a 3 position switch inside for High-Mid-Low tones. It comes set in the high position but I tried it in mid for a bit more of a vintage tone. Cut through really nicely. Using it is really easy, in fact because of the shorter pedal size against the position of the pivot point I found it easier and more controllable than my full-sized wah. I'll give the other two positions a try another time.

The Plexitone Prototype 'Duplexer' is the second prototype of what became Carl Martin's Plexitone pedal. I came second in a competition on here back in 2006 that Niels (Vasshu) ran when he was still working at Carl Martin. It was mains powered, but he kindly repaired and modified it to run on 9v last year. It's an awesome pedal.

I forgot to mention, it's also powered by a Pedaltrain Volto. Really convenient for jam nights!

Re: NWD!

Tasty lil' board!

Wah, OD, other OD, Boost, and Chorus/Flange/Phase/Vibe.

One could rock rather well, in the classic sense with that!

I am finding mine to be a rather awesome addition to my main board.

I only use the Flanger, but have given them all a good workout. I could use either Chorus (Depending), the Flanger, the regular Phase. I agree - the Vibe is rather mellow. But I'm not a fan of mega-vibe either, so I'm cool. It would be a great effect to turn down to lower settings, and add a little "something" to solos without being obvious or a VH copy.

I use it only for Down Boys, but I turn it on/off like a dozen times during that one tune. Works like a champ and sounds solid.

Re: NWD!

That's the idea Bob. It's pretty much all I need for my current band. The Regenerator will only be used on a few bits. The bonus being that I now have more space on my big board for a Synth9!
