OCD Pedal: What do y'all think?

Re: OCD Pedal: What do y'all think?

I'm using the OCD Ver 3 I've had all 3 versions and this is the best one....for me anyway! You can buy a new OCD now for $143 also if you have a harsh or very bright sounding amp it will probably not sound to good but a good tube amp set clean and the pedal will rock.

Re: OCD Pedal: What do y'all think?

I tried to like it (twice as a matter of fact) but ultimately sold them. Like John, I thought it was harsh sounding as well. Since I got my modded JCM800, I have yet to find a need for a pedal anyway...

There are better pedals available to us today and I'm pretty anti-Mike Fuller,so I'm going to "always" go against the grain w/his products! I Liked his Mini Deja Vibe alot but sold that to Midnite Man...

Either way,I still felt the OCD was over-hyped crap(in my case)but that was just me? I Know good tone!

Geez John, you act like you know something about the insides of pedals or something! :nana: LOL!!

Re: OCD Pedal: What do y'all think?

Love mine (version 2). Have tried it head to head with a KLon, SD twin tube, and SD Lava and prefer it hands down. Now you have to know what it can and can not do. I use it with a great tube amp designed along more vintage lower gain design. I use it to boost the amp from a clean/mild OD setting to add extra sustain/presence/growl. I use alnico celestion speakers and the pedal can be set to give a little ~4 k boost and this works great with these. Definitely not something you would want to use with say a vintage 30 speaker. For my set-up I think it is spectacular, yet my brother who designed the amp is not particularly impressed.

John, I know you know more about pedals than I do, but I hope your personal beliefs about Fuller don't artificially color your opinions about the quality of his products. You have to admit, they're built about as good as any other pedal out there.

That said, this is all relative and personal preference. I mean, think of all those poor guys who don't like teles!

As mentioned I Loved the Mini Deja Vibe and my friend's OCD...My OCD was bright and harsh(and hi fi) sounding by comparison! Basically I didn't like it,knew what it was about, and sold it pretty quickly and bought the much better Carl Martin Plexitone, which I still use and love!

Re: OCD Pedal: What do y'all think?

Haven't had a chance to play it, but I LOVE my analog man SD-1 silver mod, worth every penny IMO, but I play it through a Vox Tonelab SE and have yet to hear it though a real amp pushing real air. But in my defense it mated well with my 10-watt practice amp, my 100-watt carvin SS combo amp, my friends 100-watt marshall DSL, and another friends' 40-watt fender hot rod. It works well with my strat, my paul, and my schecter w/ mean 90's. I know this isn't about the OCD, just maybe an alternative to those considering it. Anyway, just my .02
