Octavia Hendrix BOG Who knows?

You know that solo on the end of "Who Knows?" on Bang of Gypsies?
I am looking for a dirty raw funk freak nasty sound like that. Hopefully something small, easy to keep with my live gear, that doesn't take up much space or need wall warts.

Something with good tone, of course.

Ideas?

Mayer stuff is sometimes big and clunky and costly. I was looking for something good sounding, balanced, easy to fit on a board, and reasonabbly priced.

I don't know that song so I don't know the tone you are talking about but I an tell you tht the Roger Mayer stuff is great...I have an Axis Fuzz that is simply killer!

If Jimi was using an Octavia on that the Mayer is gonna get you really, really close depending on the rest of your rig...The VooDoo Labs proctavit is cool, there is now a reissue Octavia but it is really costly. ANother choice (the one I opted for) is to get a Fulltone Ultimate Octave...it's a silicon fuzz with lots of options (vintage and modern voicing for one) and the ability to switch in and out an upper octave effect...it's the greatest modern update of an Octavia I have tried yet plus since you can turn off the octave effect it also doubles as a killer, super nasty...if you want it to be fuzz!
