Hello, i'm not really sure if this is the right sub forum for this but i'm in need of some help with this switch!

,I'm rewiring my strat as the internals had got a bit crackley etc but the switch i have bought has a different terminal lay out to most others i can find. It's a guitar techGT540 switch. http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/att...dball-5-way-selector-switch-strat-switch1.jpg This is the only picture i can find of the terminal part but here's a link to it on Amazon as well http://www.amazon.co.uk/GUITAR-TECH-SWITCH-PICKUP-SELECTOR/dp/9792213244 I'm not really sure how each terminal relates each one on the fender style 5 way and those shown in diagrams. the diagram I'm using is this one by the way. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=1h_2s_1v_2t_5w

P.S Sorry for all the long links, i'm no to sure how to shorten them!

Re: Odd 5 way strat switch terminal identification.

first I commend your bravery for purchasing an unknown switch with no reviews

next
lets do this

do you have a multi-meter/ ohm meter/ etc?

something to test continuity with?

if so
put one lead on that center common pin and lets see what it is connected to
by touching EVERY other terminal on the switch

repeat for each of the five switch positions

if it helps label each terminal with a number
and make notes

you can also make a graphic map of each position

and post your results in detail

we will try to help from there

also if you could post an actual photo of yours
it would help

most of us use photobucket.com or the like as a photo hosting site

Re: Odd 5 way strat switch terminal identification.

Welcome to the forum.

Somebody else posted a thread about exactly the same switch a few days ago.

The central terminal is the shared output for both poles of the switch.

Think of the terminals being numbered thus;

| 1 2 3
|
| 4/5
|
| 8 7 6

Re: Odd 5 way strat switch terminal identification.

LOL. Amazon charges more for the nasty version than resellers of the CRL type charge for the real thing.

Re: Odd 5 way strat switch terminal identification.

ive had this issue before while repairing guitars. there has to be some sort of online reference. follow EHD'S advice.
