Odd Invader

I just bought this “black Invader” from a reputable seller. However, the bobbins are flat black soft plastic like DiMarzio uses (so it won’t match other Duncans) and it seems barely potted. The baseplate and model sticker look legit. Did I get sold a fake or maybe a floor shop custom (flat black with light potting)?

Re: Odd Invader

Could you please share pictures of the baseplate?

Also, if you have a multimeter check if the pickup's numbers match as expected.

Re: Odd Invader

Just put it where you would put any other Invader... in the trash. :outahere:

Re: Odd Invader

Yup, that does look just like any other Invader. It must be a shop floor custom, just as you said. It's highly unlikely you got a fake SD pickup with that good quality. If it were fake it probably wouldn't have the Seymour Duncan logos on it and definitely wouldn't have the sticker.

Re: Odd Invader

Looks legit to me.

FYI, the Invader neck is a much brighter, snappier pickup than you'd probably expect.
It's still very aggressive though, but it has way less output than the bridge.

It's a really oddball set, for many reasons.

Re: Odd Invader

It looks legit to me, too. Maybe someone ordered it that way for something specific. It looks like you have a pretty rare item there.
