Oh man... GAS is not what I need right now.

Re: Oh man... GAS is not what I need right now.

PRS makes a really beautiful guitar.
Excellent craftsmanship.

The only issues for me though, are the cutaway access to the 24th fret and the heel size.
I'm very picky about that with 24 fret guitars.
Thus, the reason I prefer a neck thru Superstrat style guitar.

looks, feel, tone, style? total fail

^ This from the guy who owns the Pukeburst Les Paul.

Since it doesn't say "Gibson" on the headstock and it wasn't designed in the 50's, nobody expects you to understand.

hahahahaha

actin like he knows me

i'm just sayin, if it ain't broke don't fix it...guitars were perfect by 1961...they haven't improved anything, they just keep trying to make a rounder wheel.

you can rock a stratted-out Les Paul wannabe 'jack of all trades' guitar man, if that's the kinda thing you're into. i like guitars with personality and style, which Mr. Smith's guitars tend to lack. I've played lots of his instruments and the only one i came close to liking was made of black limba...and almost anything made of black limba is gonna be awesome, but i'd still never be able to own that guitar cuz it's an ugly-ass McCarty! haha

That new Korina McCarty is nice but since you can't get it without ******birds and it always comes in the 25" scale it's pointless. For the kinda money you'd spend on a PRS, you could get somethin epic and custom from an independent luthier with just as much skill or talent but a smaller reputation...one who's probably more willing to tailor the guitar to you.

anyways...

if you dig it Brendan...you dig it!!!?

PRS guitars sound great, feel great, and play great...what more you could you ask for?!

Re: Oh man... GAS is not what I need right now.

I've wanted a PRS since 1994. I don't understand or care about why anyone would bash them. They have always been awesome guitars in my experience.

Everyone thought Les Pauls were stupid through most of the 80's, and pretty much no one touched a Strat through the mid 60's. None of this means anything as far as how good or bad the guitar is.

Re: Oh man... GAS is not what I need right now.

I've just picked a SE EG (3 single coil Korean version) after fighting with a Strat for almost three years. I've tried everything, I just couldn't bond with it. No connection at all! I guess I'm just NOT a strat guy at all. Ok, live and learn. I got the PRS just because I needed the strat sound for some of the songs I play... and I felt close to home from the very first time I played it.

Being a LP/335 guy for over 35 years I kinda like the 25" scale even though it sounds VERY dark, even with a SSL-1 set.

So, I've bought a Lace Holy Grail set and now I'm getting a bit closer to that classic strat sound but without the noise.

PRSs are not for everybody... but even the cheap ones are very well made considering the price.

Re: Oh man... GAS is not what I need right now.

I had the chance to play a modern eagle II the other day. and I want one BADLY. but that's one of thoese things that I can never afford. haha

my friend may end up letting go his custom 22 for a fair price soon he says, and it just happens to be my favorite! green flame top. :eek2: and with a trem too. if I have the cash, there will be no way i'll be able to pass up that deal.

I dig the 25" scale. and as far as the whole custom thing goes. when I played the modern eagle II. that guitar, looked, sounded, played, just totally felt like it was made exclusively for me.

Re: Oh man... GAS is not what I need right now.

yeah man, a lot of people really like PRS guitars...a lot of dudes drive jacked-up pickup trucks and some wear camo-print cargo shorts with flip-flops.

just cuz i don't doesn't mean you shouldn't :smokin:

Re: Oh man... GAS is not what I need right now.

I owned a PRS McCarty with a solid rosewood neck for a few years.

Extremely, extremely nice guitar.

I never really jived with the bridge pickup though, and this was before I'd ever swapped a pup before and I was not gonna learn on a $3,500 guitar. My dissatisfaction with the muddy-sounding tone (from the bad pairing of the pickups and woods from PRS) ultimately led to my selling the guitar.

I miss it, because if I still owned it now, I would have swapped the bridge pup and it would be killer, but I used the money from it to buy my Splawn head and cab, which I still own and love, so it's OK.

The dudes like that down here usually play Diamond Series Schecters. :D

I was going to say, I don't think that the cargo army short crowd really digs the look or appreciate a finely crafted PRS.
