Oh Man, I'm confused about this wiring

Ok, so I'm wiring this Strat pickguard in preparation for my body and neck arriving in a few weeks time. I have two Texas Specials and a Jb Jr (for the Bridge).

Now this is the switching I would like:

Pos5: Jb Jr, both coils
Pos4: Mid Texas Special and one coil of the JB
Pos3: Mid Texas Special
Pos2: Mid and Neck Texas Special
pos1: Neck Texas Special.

Best way to do this seems to be to do the "Spin a Split" mod.

Thing is, I also want to shield the guitar and move all the grounds as per John Atchley's excellent schematic here:

But I can't work out how to mix the two schematics together, especially now I have all this extra shielded braid and extra ground from the multi-conductor Jb Jr.

Also, can I also use the remaining tone, after the Spin a Split mod, for the Bridge? To tame the Jb if it's too toppy? how would that work?

Anyone got any advice or schematics?! :bigeyes2:

Here's what that diagram modified to "star grounding" would look like:

ArtieToo,

:yourock:

Thanks so much. Makes a lot of sense. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

Is it possible to put the resulting split sound from the spin a split, through the remaining tone control? I'll probably try this once I've successfully wired as above. Doing it in stages, rather than trying to wire it all at once.

JEREMY - Thanks for that Schematic too. Another option for sure. Cheers!

Sure. Just connect the tone control to point "A" on the volume control for a normal master tone, or to the middle lug of the volume control for the "50's mod".

I thought the 50's Mod was a Master Tone? What's the difference?

Thanks

Re: Oh Man, I'm confused about this wiring

The 50's mod just refers to whether or not the tone control is pre or post volume control. "Normal" tone controls connect before the volume control, (point A). The 50's mod connects after the volume control, (the pot wiper).

The 50's mod tone control could be attached directly to the output jack, and it would be the same. Just as long as its any point after the volume control.
