Too many threads recently, the GAS attack is back.. There are two I've wanted for a while and one a bit newer:

-Analogman Peppermint Fuzz
-Blackout Musket Fuzz
-Black Arts Pharaoh Fuzz

What ever am I going to do? ;)

Re: Oh no... Fuzz GAS is back!

If you want a GOOD fuzz, get them . . . in this order !

1st) -Black Arts Pharaoh Fuzz

2nd) -Analogman Peppermint Fuzz

Re: Oh no... Fuzz GAS is back!

Had the Musket, it was great Muff style fuzz. Mids control was a great feature. Could get pretty distortion like at the right settings.

Love the Pharaoh currently, can't find anything else that sounds this huge. Really versatile with the clipping options as well.

Also consider the Trombetta Mini-Bone. I've had mine for a while and love it. Amazingly versatile and inspiring. If I only could have 1 fuzz this would be it.

My No. 1 fuzz for almost 2 years now !

Re: Oh no... Fuzz GAS is back!

The only new Muff style pedal I've been impressed with in a long time is the BMF Aries so if you wanted a Muff style fuzz that would be my suggestion.

If you are for sure going with one of the 3 you listed I gotta go Peppermint!

I've got two huge sounding Bug Muffs right now, a clone of the original Swollen Pickle and the Earthbound Audio Supercollider. I've been interested in the Musket for a while, but on the hard rock/stoner thread I saw a bunch of Pharaohs... Checked out some YouTube demos, wow that's a big sounding fuzz! That low mid grind is a guilty pleasure of mine.

That's another one I've had my eye on for a while, I should just order it from Mike along with another (different transistor) Sunface! :)

Like i stated before - i honestly lOVE mine.

Hopefully i will get more BAT products (among other) when i get back to the US.
I fly tomorrow - San Fran, here we come.

And yes, the Pharaoh is (((M A S I V E))) SOUNDING !

Re: Oh no... Fuzz GAS is back!

I had a Pharaoh for a while and I liked it, but it couldn't compare in the slightest to my Basic Audio Tri/Ram. It was the first good big muff that I got, and I've owned four or five others since I got the Tri/Ram. They're all gone now but the Tri/Ram is still here. I've yet to find any muff better than it.

Basic Audio makes fantastic stuff. I had a Foxey Lady before that was really really nice and a Scarab Deluxe that was so killer that I'm getting another one. Shouldn't have sold it in the first place, haha.

Re: Oh no... Fuzz GAS is back!

Just chipping in about a Pharaoh probably being my next stomper. It sounds awesome at a resonable price, even in Sweden.

Re: Oh no... Fuzz GAS is back!

I currently own:

- Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh (#36, last of the original batch Mark made before he took it the next level of being a real company. I had #8 but got laid off and had to pass but he hooked me up!)
- Black Arts Toneworks Destroyer (Ritual and Oath fuzzes in one pedal that can be stacked or played individually - mean as hell pedal, not for the faint of heart)
- Clone of a Fuzz Face (no name, DIY box) pretty cool, not my favorite though.
- DOD Flashback Fuzz (horrible by itself, one of the best fuzz boosts ever though! This cheapo fuzz when dialed in right over a driven amp can help me achieve Brian May and Tom Scholz tones believe it or not, not that I go there often but that's not the point)

I've not played the other one you mention but I do hear great things about it.

What is on my board and will most likely always be? BAT Pharaoh for the win! I personally think it's the best fuzz pedal EVER.

I've played the Musket, was OK, but no Pharaoh. In fact, it was getting all the love from us stoner/doom guys until the Pharaoh came along.

Me and Mark, founder of Black Arts Toneworks hanging out in my jam room. He was on solo motorcycle trip and came through town and stayed with the other guitarist in my band and hung out with us. Just a super cool and very talented guy. I'm proud to call him a friend.

Sporting our Black Arts Toneworks t-shirts last weekend when we opened for Crowbar. Always promoting the best.

I could never really get the right midrange response out of the Pharaoh, not like the Tri/Ram. On this pedal I can dial in exactly how much scoop I want (or don't want).

Re: Oh no... Fuzz GAS is back!

It's funny that one of my favorite fuzz pedals is the one you sold me years ago....the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face.
