OH YEAH!!!!!!! Charvel Pro mod info!

My Charvel Pro mod has become my fav player! I love it! I dont use single coils often but would LOVE to have a single/hum version like Warren D's but cant pay for a sig model. Was very upset when they discontinued the line. So, we have discussed before that they are bringing them back, but made in Mex (I believe) Welp, They are set to release in June and Charvel now has info on the website. In addition to a Gorgeous one in black with a flame maple top, they are also bringing out a HUM/Single one. However, Im soo disappointed cuz that model DOESNT have the floyd.. If they did a Hum/single with the black flame top and a floyd, Id be in Heaven.. But anyhow, here are some details for anyone who is interested..

The black flame top:

The rest of the line:

I hope these are built close to as good as the Japanese ones...

Re: OH YEAH!!!!!!! Charvel Pro mod info!

So glad these are coming back. If you wanted a H-S one you could always get a So-Cal and replace the pickguard with a H-S guard.

Re: OH YEAH!!!!!!! Charvel Pro mod info!

I really like my BC Rich Gunslinger with the H/S pup config and no scratchplate.

Keep an eye out for 1 mate, I don't think they're that expensive anymore. The older 1s come with Dimarzios too.

Re: OH YEAH!!!!!!! Charvel Pro mod info!

Why not a push/push for the nk p/up to go s/c?

Agreed on the p/g,also,they're too nice looking for teh plastic...

Re: OH YEAH!!!!!!! Charvel Pro mod info!

Also, I believe all of the models with floyds are recessed routed (I prefer w/o recessed) and with the Korean and not the German made Floyds. I'm kinda disappointed with them for that price. Not much different than the MIJ models. However, good that they are back producing real Charvels again.

I will definitely have to try one when they arrive.

Re: OH YEAH!!!!!!! Charvel Pro mod info!

They look great! Mine was really nice but just not my thing so I sold it. Are these being made in Japan or in the U.S. again?

Re: OH YEAH!!!!!!! Charvel Pro mod info!

Yep, Mexico. I believe it is the same location where Fender is making a bunch of their other guitars, including the new EVH striped guitars that just came out.

I prefer the recessed Floyds... Not for pulling up, but it's easier to get low action on them.

Every guitar I've come across with a Flush mount Floyd- even my EBMM Axis- has needed neck shims to get action low enough where I like, which often requires a shim under the base of a Floyd as well. It's much easier dealing with a recessed Floyd and use a trem stop in the cavity if you don't want it to float

agreed on the EBMM Axis. but that one is essentially the EVH model without the name, and his are setup to rest against the body. still, I can get mine up enough to get a full step pull up on it. I also have a MIJ Charvel San Dimas Pro Mod and there is no issue with the action or the angle of the top mount FR... unless the player just prefers the feel of a recessed FR.

very interested to see how the MIM version turns out.

Re: OH YEAH!!!!!!! Charvel Pro mod info!

Not so easy to swap the pickguard. You need a fender-like pickguar but, for Floyd Rose. Not easy to source, here.
About coil splitting, I went for a 6-way switch (stewmac Freeway), in mine.
By adviced that you would need to remove the neck before removing the pickguard.

Re: OH YEAH!!!!!!! Charvel Pro mod info!

Charvel replaced the Grover tuners with their own tuners. Not really an issue for me though. I wonder how the new So-Cal will sound, I'm not really a big fan of the 2 Distortion setup. I wonder whether it will be as versatile as the old MIJ one.

I have one of the Gunslinger reissues, but mine only has the single bucker.. Its a great player!

Yeah, I could do a push pull pot. Gets pretty close to the SC tone.
