Great tone. Think I would have arranged it differently though. The last 3rd sounded like a good intro to me which could lead to the more powerful first part. But how come these songs get cut off so soon? Are they only part recordings or should I be clicking on something else? Just getting into the tune and it ends abruptly? Good though for the short amount of time it was on.

It's not my song....Avenged Sevenfold hence the A7X. They get cut off soon because I'm not bothering with a full song. I'm trying to get a good sound.

Ah right. Well the tone sounds great to me. Slightly muffled but spot on for this type of music I would have thought. Really like it. Wish I was more of an authority on this subject but going on gut instinct I think you can't be far off a real good sound. Maybe slightly sharper for more piercing solos but not by much. Probably you can get that by an effects pedal or by altering the tone on the guitar itself? Alter the tone when you go into a solo or start to play single notes so your playing moves from providing a backing to center stage. Back again when you want the rest of the group to sound clearer?

A bit more treble and you would nail the early slayer tone.

Playing was nice but it sounded kinda weak when considering that this comes from a 4x12 even when close mic'd. What mic where you using?
From tone perspective, it wasn't tight or cutting enough. You need to add some treble or presence to get some extra cut(sounds a bit like you scooped the mids a bit, could that be?). Tightness can't be EQ'd in very much, but putting a tubescreamer in front of the amp might help a great bit. But considering how it sounds now a slight change in EQ should make it a lot more defined.

I'm willing to bet that the kind of lack of a top end I'm hearing is a result of the recording equipment or something like that. It is a little muffled, yeah.
But damn, I bet that sounded awesome straight from the amp to your ear!

All you need is to master it (EQ etc) and you're set. The guitars will clear up without problem. The only thing is the drums got too loud in the mix and if you add EQ for high-end you'll make them even more pronounced.
