Ohm Mismatching

Its ok to have a speaker load higher than the rating on the head, right? (a.k.a., head is set to 4 ohms, you use a cab with a load of 8 or 16 ohms, no damage, right?) or is it te other way around?

Re: Ohm Mismatching

a TUBE amp can handle a mismatch of up to 100% in both directions, a SS amp is far less forgiving of this, also some (I hate to be this way) lesser quality tube amps will also have a problem. What do you have and what do you want to do with it?

Re: Ohm Mismatching

Low into high, will fly; high into low won't go!
Low output into high input ... although that's still not good for it, just run the amp no more than half way up (don't max it out ... *master volume* that is).
