Ok, I wanna try the whole stereo thing and I've got some Qs.
First of, can I plug in same amp twice into 1 4X12? My JCM900 1960A cab has an option of going stereo at 8 ohms, so can I select 8 ohm on AOR and take the two outs and send it to the 4X12?
Second, I might in the future get a Soldano Avenger typa thingy one way another and there could be a chance that it would be a 100watter can I go stereo into a same JCM900 1960A with 50 watt AOR and another sort of 100Watter?
Third I really dig the tightness of running my AOR at 4 ohms, 16 ohms gets too buzzy/mushy to my ears will 8 ohms be closer to 4 ohms or 16 ohms tone ?

I don't think you can do what I think it is you're thinking of trying to do.

The cab will essentially split into two 8 ohm 2x12- you use each of the inputs on the panel and use the switch.

You want to be able to take output of one 8 ohm tap from the back and the output from the 4 ohm tap?

If your amp were to be able to run that (which it's still basically the same signal- you probably would barely- if at all- notice the difference- especially in the same cab)- you'd have to mess with the impedance of one of the sides of the cab- (2 8 ohm speakers in paralell) which would preclude you from using the cab as a 16 ohm enclosure.

The stereo feature of the amp is meant to be run with two amps. 50/100w is irrelevant as long as you're running the proper impedance and not slaying the speakers.

If you like the amp running at 4 ohms, why not just rewire the cab for 4 ohms?

Well, I think you'd get more stereo spread from using 2 seperate cabs, but the JCM 900 cab works just like TGB says...like two 8 ohm cabs. If they have the original speakers, they're rated to 150 watts a side.

Personally, I'd get a second cab, if you think you need to use 2 100 watt amps.

The first time you run your signal out of like a stereo chorus to two amps on either side of you- that's awesome.

Thanks guys. Yes my cab has 4 or 16 ohms for mono run and 8 for stereo, my Laney AOR selector has all three, 4,8,16 ohms. So I guess I can select 16 ohms on AOR and take to two cables out of my AOR and send it to to marshall cab set for stereo, right? but I would barely notice the difference right? Hmmm .... Also yeah I have Ibanez CS9 which is a analog stereo chorus with two outputs, that the long term dream Soldano Avenger(or its clone) and Laney AOR split into via stereo chorus. What if I put two V30 and keep two GT12-75s in II not X patter and then run my AOR "twice" into that cab? will that make a difference as far as noticing the difference?

I suppose you can try the 16 ohm into the 2 stereo inputs...

Just to clarify- you're going guitar into the CS-9 and running the outs to individual amps to the respective cabinet(s).

Most of the fun about running in stereo is the actual seperation of the cabinets. Yeah, it's neat in a stereo cab- but having one cab off to your left and one cab off to your right and hearing the chorus swirl between them around the room is awesome.

The Cab split into two 8 ohm sides being driven by PARALLELED outputs from your amp would result in a 4 Ohm load, and would yield nothing different than running your amp at 4 ohms into the cab set to 4 ohms, you would be feeding the same signal into both sides.

Running 2 different amps into the two sides at 8 ohms each would be fine. the spread wouldn't be huge, but you could do it. A 100 watt amp isn't that much louder than a 50, so as long as you balance them you wouldn't have a problem.

Thanks dudes, I am practicing as we speak, and before I set up I've changed to 16ohms ..... I don't know to me it sounds so much more muddy, less repsonsive to pick attack, and really flobby lows .... to my ears 4 ohms are so much better accross the board, very nice sandy grain gain, very defined extreamly articulate, really responsiveness, 4 ohms its so not metal but with me its so metal ... hmmm ...
