No you are not suppose to do that. Thats a great way to ensure a broken string later. You do not need to bend strings to put them in. Thats absurd.

Don't hate the Floyd, hate the Floyd copy. Most are complete junk except as someone else said the Schaller copies which are damn near as good. But still hollow metal. Only the orginal Floyds are stainless solid steel construction. When you bang on one of those things for about 10 years you'll see what I mean.
