Ok, some old Sweet.

Keep in mind the bass is going directly to the board so most of the tone is the product of the recording engineer.
 
It sounds like a Jazz Bass played with a pick on the bridge pickup with the tone rolled up. It more than likely went straight to the board because there really isn't any coloration and there's a hard knee limiter on it to keep it from piercing too much or sustaining too long. That's the blat, blat, blat sound.

I have never been in a recording session where they did not record the bass direct. There is a chance they used a direct box and a mic on the bass amp. Based on the era when that was recorded my best guess is they took the bass direct.
