Old 1/4 Basslines pickup backplate question

Bought it used out of a 70s P. Guy dident know how old it was. When it arrived it had a detached copper baseplate, appears to have solder points that are seperated now. Do i resolder it in place? I dont believe new ones have the plate anymore? Was it aftermarket? Has a 3 sticker on the underside.

Thoughts? Info? Thanks!

I recently worked on a customers bass that had that same plate. I'm pretty sure the plate is the shielding for the original guitar, that has nothing to do with the Duncan pups. I imagine, you'd want to clean it up and reconnect it, just to help reduce hum.
