Old Seymour Duncan pickup

I have been trying to track down some info on an old pickup. I got this pickup in a box of various parts about 15 years ago. It is a Seymour Duncan pickup with the logo stamped on the back. There is also a sticker with either EV-M or EY-M printed on it, I can't quite tell which. Any ideas on what model this is?

Re: Old Seymour Duncan pickup

Im guessing that because you said it had the logo stamped on the back it is a bucker...I am also guessing that the sticker used to say SEY-M, which would make it a Seymourizer, today that would be a Distortion Neck model...does that sounds about right??? If not, give us more specs...pole piece types, DC resistance would help alot!

:hijacked: I've got a '59n that has a black baseplate, does anyone know why this is? I have never seen a Duncan like that.

not to sound stupid but, are you sure it is a 59n?

It is a '59nJ. It has some wax potting over the label. Looks genuine to me.

well, it's an older one, and I have heard that some time ago Duncans had a "Black Back" but I could not say for sure...

Re: Old Seymour Duncan pickup

I figured it came out of a Fender or something, as a stock pickup. It is probably just one of tose things. Just thought I'd ask.

Re: Old Seymour Duncan pickup

Thanks! There is a very pale s, so it is SEY-N... Duncan Distortion. Not what I was hoping for, but I'm sure I can make use of it. There is really no lead wire, so I'll have to splice some on. I have an old SG... I think I'll use it there until I get the stock pickups repaired.

If not, I'm sure you could sell it here!

As far as I know, Seymour Duncan manufactured pickups called the Black Backs for certain guitar manufacturers as OEM under a non-disclosure agreement. Ed Roman used the Black Backs in some of his models.

Re: Old Seymour Duncan pickup

Well, I put the Duncan Distortion in the neck position on my old SG, and it sounds pretty good.

Another pickup that came in my box-o-parts is an old Seymour Duncan P-90 with a IN M label on it. It measures 8.15K. I didn't see any P-90 labels on the support labels page. Any ideas on this?

I'm looking to get a Faded Les Paul Special Double Cuttaway, and it might be interesting to try it out on that.
