OMG... I must have it! (tele)

Re: OMG... I must have it! (tele)

Just picked one up on Sunday. I'm still running it thru the paces before I post a review. The one I have is great construction wise. I'll want to replace the bridge at some point. The pots will get changed this weekend. From what I've heard, the quality control is sketchy on this model however.

I compared one of these to the Hwy 1 Tele and even though I ended up putting Duncans in the Hwy 1, I think the Hwy 1 is a better value. You just have to love the finish and some clearly don't. Even thoughthe Hw1 neck is a bit too blonde for me, wish it had more of a vintage tint, it's the finest Fender neck I've ever fretted.

I just picked up a lite ash tele second hand for $450. It my first tele and I'm really happy with it. Now the uppermost frets need some attintion but over all it sounds and plays great.

I wouldn't order a Lite Ash Tele from Musician's Friend. The quality of the Lite Ash guitars is too inconsistant for mail order; IMO. Find one at your local Fender dealer. I remember the first one that came in at my local GC. I played and liked it. It sold and they put three more on the floor. All three were questionable at best...

Personally, I like the color and love the pickups. However, I love my Hwy 1. The finishe on my Hwy 1 is so thin that I have chipped it and worn it to wear it looks 25 years old...

the only thing i really like about the lite ash is the birdseye on the neck...i'm a sucker for birdseye, but i like the feel of the hwy 1's neck better...put a birdseye on a hwy 1 and i'm there!!!
