? on cramic mags and alnico mags

is it ok to mix a alnico magnet at the neck and a ceramic at the bridge and what whould that do to my tone? suggestions?

It's fine to mix magnet types. Most of the popular neck pups have Alnico 5 mags, and most of the hotter bridge pups have ceramic.

While the magnets do have a large bearing on your tone, I wouldn't worry excessively about them. If it sounds good... know what i mean?

I've got a SH-13 in the bridge and a Sh-10 in the neck
Alnico and Ceramic, and it sounds killer.

hey, randy rhoads used a distortion (ceramic) in the bridge and a jazz (alnico) in the neck. can't complain about his tone. the guy from papa roach has the same set up in his signature schecter.

Yeah I mix them all the time. Whatever gets you the tone you want. If a guy puts a JB JR. in his Strat and uses vintage style alnico pickups for the neck and middle, he's mixing alnico with ceramic every time. Lew
