Hi ive got an ibanez ironlabel 8 string with the stock emg808s. I play mostly highgain technical brutal death metal & at times pretty/spacey/dissonant stuff
The 808s are ok but heres my issues with them.
-a bit "scratchy/harsh" on the topend.
-a bit muddy on lows.
-kinda "sterile/digital" & lacks "body/girth" its got lowend but theres something a bit empty to them imo.
-too high output and get a lot of feedback!
Thinking about swapping them for blackout 8 which is suppose to be highoutput which kinda scares me BUT supposedly more organic and has special stuff going on to prevent feedback and noise etc.
Judging from experience and after reading my issues with the emg808s do you think ill like the blackouts?
My dream PU would ...
-big thick balanced tone ie good low mids/mids/high mids and big but controlled lowend (not boomy) And a rounded smooth highend.
-have good clarity.
-not super high output but pretty mean/aggressive sounding.
