ONBFFD Old New Build Finally Finished Day

The parts for this one have been accumulating in the shed for the past 15 years. Every part is brand new old stock. The body was in the shed,in a box, under a pile of other bodies and tone wood since 2001. It's meant to be swamp ash,it ain't,but the weight is somewhere between an Swamp Ash and Northern Ash. I painted it Daphne Blue about 7 years ago. The neck is an old Mighty Mite that I picked up about 10 years ago. I never used it because the dot markers are way out of line. Turns out,it's a beautiful player! Machine heads are NOS Gotohs. I'm not sure how old,but they were in a box of stuff from when I closed my shop in 2000. Bridge is a top-loading Wilkinson compensated job, which is a lot better than I thought it would be.
Finally,it's loaded with a Lil '59 wired series/parallel/split through a standard 3 way Tele switch.
Plays great, sounds great, has 3 very usable sounds. Now,I just need to pull my finger out and start playing live again to get some use out of it!!

Cheers,PJ

Awesome! Love the tummy cut and forearm contour! Working on a Tele build right now and am doing the same thing on mine!

Re: ONBFFD Old New Build Finally Finished Day

Thanks for the comments. Sadly, the "gut cut" is becoming more of a necessity these days!

Hey Andy, that's gorgeous mate!

Is that a mint guard? very classy indeed

Re: ONBFFD Old New Build Finally Finished Day

Thanks Artie,I believe I used one of your wiring diagrams . I'll try to record some noise for you.

Cheers Willy,i think the plate is mint,or parchment,or aged white or just a piece of mangy old crap out ofthe shed ! I dunno its been floating around here for a while. Get ya Spanish butt over here to try the sucker out and you can call it any colour you want . ;)

Re: ONBFFD Old New Build Finally Finished Day

Love that you put in the "gut cut" and forearm relief. I now do that to nearly every one of my builds.

Re: ONBFFD Old New Build Finally Finished Day

Very nice! That looks really classy, and fun to play.
I dig the L59 in my Tele, too.

Did you do the contouring, or did you get the body that way? I kind of wish I had contoured my Tele body when I was working on it.

Re: ONBFFD Old New Build Finally Finished Day

I did the slicing and dicing myself. I probably left them a bit too angular.
I've always loved the look and feel of Strat bodies with deep gut cuts and forearm relief. I like when they almost flow into each other. There's a smooth transition like a beautiful piece of sculpture.

Cheers,PJ

VERY NICE!! IMO, the cut outs make it alil more, I dunno.. classy maybe? Teles to me always look like such a blank plank. Really like that!! Cut outs required here too.. I have to hold my guitars a certain way or the amp picks up my pain pump in my gut clicking...
