I thought BB Preamp thickens up tone. Which seems counter-productive in this case.

LPB-1 at least does. I didn't like that at all.

Oh. It could be the AC or the RC then. I understand all of them have a very flexible EQ section so one of them's gotta do it.
Anyway, I'd take my SHO over any of those.
