One P-Rail?

I am assembling a mutt. I had an old Truetone Vanguard single pickup body. I bought a nice Strat neck and had an old hardtail Strat bridge and ferrules. Since it only has one route (in the middle), I wanted to add something that would fit the route and give me another nice guitar for slide and such. I had looked at putting a P-90 in there, but then found the P-rail. They recommend using two to get the most out of it, but could I get the three "different" sounds out of just one? I don't mind routing it for two, but would rather not if at all possible. Anyone used just one P-Rail?

Re: One P-Rail?

You could get 4 sounds out of just one... Series/ Parallel / P90coil / Blade coil No reason why you could not just use one if your after a variety of sounds from 1 pickup this would be a good choice.

Re: One P-Rail?

Yamaha does a Pacifica model w/ a single P Rail in the bridge w/ a 5 way switch I think and it sounds pretty dam awesome. I think it'd be a good choice.

Re: One P-Rail?

Six sounds - each coil alone, both in series, both in parallel, both in series out-of-phase, both in parallel out-of phase.

Re: One P-Rail?

I'm too new to the P-Rail world but, if you just have one pickup in a guitar this one would be it.

If you can't get a useful tone out of it then you need to find a different instrument to play.

Thanx for the info! I think that's the way I'm going. Now to find a cheap one... unemployment is a *****.
