Opinions on my setup.

I'm about to do the following setup and would like to hear some opinions on it before proceeding. Thx for any feedback. Neck: SSL5 (for my bluesy clean leads and distorted now and then) Mid: SSL1 (for a nice clean, vintage sound for my rhythm playing) Bridge: Custom 5 (for getting good and heavy when I need to on leads/rhythm but still have a vintage, warmer tone then the average). I am also getting the control cavity sheilded. I plan on doing much more to my Strat in the long run but this will be the start on my recently bought, all currently stock standard strat.

Re: Opinions on my setup.

Thanks for your feedback. I will most likely go with this setup as I spoke to a tech about this and what I wanted exactly out of my Strat. Just wanted to see a few outside opinions before proceeding. Thanks guys.

Re: Opinions on my setup.

I'd make one change: I'd swap the SSL-1 and the SSL-5. I'd use the SSL-5 in the middle position and the SSL-1 as the neck pickup.

The higher output SSL-5 will combine better with the C5 in the #4 selector switch setting and probably combine better with the SSL-1 too in the #2 selector switch setting.

Of the two, the SSL-1 is a better neck pickup...IMO.

Thx for the suggestion Lewguitar. I see what you mean however, I would like to get the tone out of the SSL-5 in the neck position. I prefer the tone of the SSL-1 in the middle for my rhythm playing plus I failed to mention, I'm going to have 9 positions. I will still get the arrangement of the SSL-5 coupled with the Custom 5 plus much more. I'm very excited about this project as I am looking to have a very versatile Strat and not one you can pick up stock in the shop. Thx again for your feedback though.

Re: Opinions on my setup.

i have a strat that has a ssl6 neck, ssl2 middle, and ssl4 bridge. the vintage sounds great in the neck but i solo alot on the neck pup so i like it to be almost as hot as my bridge with the middle pup brighter and lower output than the rest. its not a classic strat setup but ive had goood luck with it for a few years, i wanted a thicker strat neck tone and the ssl6 has worked well

Re: Opinions on my setup.

Jeremy, is the SSL-6 good for Blues solos? I want to go with something that would be great for the clean solos but having a little more thickness in the neck would be great.
