I just played one this afternoon... NICE guitar! I liked it a lot. Good tone, great sustain and resonance, good vibes and plenty of mojo.
Did you want an opinion of any specific aspect of the guitar? Personally I think it's an awesome axe.

Guys, you gave me great info. Thanks a lot. I'd read that they are only assembled in Mexico and some people like them just as much or better than the american strats. Do a few electronic mods and you've got an incredible guitar. I wanted to see if anyone in the real world agreed. :smoker: :cool3:

62 RI's are MIA.

The MIM are called "60's" and have poly finishes.

I should have made it clear that I wasn't talking about the new ones but the ones made a few years ago. A lot of them were made with the nitro finish, but not all so you've got to check. I for one wouldn't be able to tell the difference :scared: except that the nitro supposedly starts to check real fast. :beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug:

that was my thoughts...the MIM 60's strats are amazing guitars as are the 50's and the 70's strats and the 50's and 60's teles...IF you like the necks, I do not care for the vintage radi and the wire frets if you do then they are the best Fender for the money Fender offers right now! I bought my dad one for his Birthday a few years ago...he has yet to change anything about it and it is his number one Strat!

to my knowledge NONE of the MIM guitars have or have ever had a nitro finish, the American Reissues have nitro finishes but ALL of the Fender guitars that have nitro finishes DO have poly undercoats.

I'm just hearing about them recently. They're rare birds but they do seem to exist. The owner of Mooretone guitars had one and sold it on ebay after doing some mods to it. I'm of course no expert, but if they exist i want one! It sounds plausable because the American nitro strats are/were sent to Mexico for the poly/nitro finish (something else I read so don't kill me on that one).

If any of these guitars had a nitro AND poly finish, wouldn't that make the guitar almost non-resonate? I always heard that the more finish a guitar has, the less it's able to resonate. Wouldn't the combination of both these finishes make for a pretty dead guitar, vibration-wise? Just a thought.
