Orange Kongpresser pedal review

I got this orange Kongpresser pedal in over the weekend and I like it better than I do other compressors I've tried. It gives my sound a very sweet sound with great sustain. It has an active chime (treble) circuit along with attack, release, compression and volume controls and this is a class A optical compressor that will offer 12dn of clean gain when ran on 9V or 16db if ran at 12V. It has an internal charger pump to double the voltage of the pedal for more output and headroom. Can obviously run on 9-12V. This has a reissue of the famous vactrol VTL5C3 optocoupler that was used in the LA-2A compressor. It seems to be pretty forgiving at most settings of the attack and release controls and was very easy to find a good setting on. I think I'm going to use this as an always on pedal early in my chain. Easier to operate and sounds better than all other Compressors I've tried.(that's not a lot)

And also, as far as LA-2A inspired compressors... try the Black Finger! It's the least transparent compressor I've ever tried... and I love it! So full of grit and character.
