Ordered ZVEX distortron

Re: Ordered ZVEX distortron

Take your time tweaking it. The controls are very sensitive and a little goes a long way, so to speak. Especially regatding the tone and gain control.

Nice! Just so you know, the gain knob makes a lot of noise when you turn it.
That's normal. Don't think your box is defective. It does that.
It even says 'cracks OK' or something like that around the gain knob.

Ok. Thought I read that about one of the pedals I was viewing on eBay.

Thats the SHO

I don't know if the Distortron does that but the SHO is the box that says... crackle ok.

Re: Ordered ZVEX distortron

Distortron says it too...

Congrats on the new pedal. I've been meaning to check one of those out for ages now. :beerchug:

Spent 10 minutes so this is a prelim review. I like it. Different from any other I've played. Nice crunch. Cleans up well. Notes are clear but thick. I'll play more tonight. Got spring football practice in an hour and a half. I got the pass out equipment.

Btw it does say crackle ok

I messed with it tons the last few days using a few different guitars. I played it through a fender Hot rod deluxe.

I really started liking it for what it is, a 60's 70's overdrive that sounds like an old Marshall. Once I stopped expecting high gain I loved it. So versatile and cleans up well. Great tube like warmth.

Tonight after a while I tried something else. I turned the volume of the pedal up an the gain way down. Basically I had a nice slight breakup, maybe a touch more than that. I plugged a BBE crusher set to normal high gain sound into the zvex. Wow! It was like my Marshall was cranked. Warm fat and with the BBE it was a nice distorted sound. This thing is sweet!
