Other than Warmoth ...

Kablamminator
... who else builds good Strat replacement bodies? Warmoth is great, but they are the only one I know of and I'd like to see what my options are.

Here's what I need: my Number One Strat has a poplar body. It doesn't sound bad at all, but it really lacks the sustain and resonance of my new US Strat. If Number One had a better body I am sure it would be an amazing instrument. This is why I am looking into a replacement.

I would like alder, preferably one-piece, left-hand, routed for H/S/S and a hard-tail (I never use the trem, so if I got this body I'd just get a hard-tail bridge for it). The finish is just simple black poly. I may be able to do the finish myself or get someone in town to do it, but if it doesn't cost too much I'd prefer the finish to be put on for me.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Other than Warmoth ...

Good link, thanks! Anyone here ever ordered a body from them? Also, anyone know if they can do one-piece? The site isn't really clear on that.

Like I said, I may decide to finish it myself. I have access to most of the stuff I need through work.

Re: Other than Warmoth ...

USA Custom Guitars are mostly ex-warmoth employees. And they will do more than warmoth will. Just ask, chances are they'll do it. Top notch.

I got a neck from them for my strat (link to a pic in my signature). Absolutely stellar craftsmanship, and they were a joy to deal with. I highly recommend them.

Re: Other than Warmoth ...

got a one peice mahogany ( honduras, they only carry the best!) body and a one peice maple neck from them.

AMAZING stuff and workmanship. plus they are a pleasure to deal with. top notch service.

i think you cant go wrong.
yes they are ex-warmoth employees.
they just specialize in goooooood wood. that is why they dont do much else.

i highly recommend them

Re: Other than Warmoth ...

I don't want a nitro finish. I put this guitar through a lot, and I want something strong. I am not interested in a "reliced" look either. And to be honest, I don't buy the "it sounds better" argument. If we were talking about an acoustic or a hollow-body, maybe. For me, poly is fine, and I can probably find the materials to do it myself.

Thanks for the info guys!
