Out of Phase?

Just put an Alnico II Pro single in the neck pos of my Tele. It's got a Custom in the bridge. Anyway, I'm just wondering if the two in combo are out of phase or something. They sound great individually but when using both together, the sound gets thinner, brighter and a little honky or notched sounding. Is that a phase issue and if so, what can I do to fix it?

Sounds exactly like out of phase- Try reversing the leads and see what you get-

If the polarity is wrong, the best way to fix it is to flip the magnet in the humbucker, although it's a pain. I think if you switch the leads, you'll cure the problem of phase, but then the middle position won't be hum cancelled.

For that reason, I almost never mix brands, and always try to buy pickups as sets.......especially for strats and teles.
