Overdrive pedal suggestions

Hello, Duncanites!
I'm just about to buy my first tube amp - an Orange OR15 + a 1x12 cab.
I'm planning on setting it pretty clean and run an overdrive pedal for my basic overdriven sound (crunchy, kind of low gainy - "wide", if that makes sense).
I'd like some suggestions of nice such pedals to check out. 150-200 dollar range, I don't want to sprawl too bad on pedals. As a refference, Earthquaker devices pedals go for about 1400 sek here in Sweden, which is about 200 dollars. I bet they're cheaper across the pond. True bypass would be preffered.

Re: Overdrive pedal suggestions

The OCD is really good and so is a Keeley modded TS-808 (which I personally have). But, I will say that our Twin Tube Classic is unreal. There's not a whole lot left, so if you can find one snatch it up. I don't think I've ever heard a player say that it was "just ok."

Re: Overdrive pedal suggestions

Yeah, the Twin Tube Classic seems quite nice, but it's priced at twice what I'm looking for here in Sweden. :)
I checked out PGS.com's OCD demo vid and it sounds about right for me, and the Swedish price is quite alright too!
I'll still take some suggestions tho - Got a few more months before it's time to make a buy, probably earliest in feb.

I would second the Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic. I love the versatility of it, and used ones can be found here in the US for <$150 on ebay. Also, you can't go wrong with a TS-9 or one of its variants. There are several Boss OD pedals that I also like: FBM-1 (modeled after a Fender Bassman), FDR-1 (modeled after the Fender Deluxe Reverb w/ tremelo), and the Blues Driver which has a similar sound to a TS-9 IMO.

There are dozens of great medium gain pedals to be had, but these are my favorites. I have never tried an OCD, but I also like it's sound in the videos and many people recommend them.

Again - The Duncan one is a tad bit expensive, and as I live in Sweden, I won't save anything on buying a used one from the states. Also, It's quite gargantuan - I'm after something in a more standard size.
Tubescreamers and Bluesdrivers are quite nice, but not true bypass. I'm not running that many pedals tho (atm distortion, fuzz, chorus, delay - will add a tremolo too), so it might not matter.

Re: Overdrive pedal suggestions

On that range and, according to your description, maybe the Xotic BB Preamp does the trick or the Xotic RC or even the Xotic AC.
But, if you can push just a bit more, Try the Wampler Euphoria. You shouldn't need further overdrives.

I'm curious. Are there no used gear websites in Sweden? or Europe?
Also, others make a good point about the amp's "drive". Is it lacking in some way?

There are some swedish sites for that, but it's mostly used Squiers and such on those. In short, the used market in Sweden isn't too great, and there's only 1 store/webshop here that actually sells stuff like Analogman, Wampler, Earthquaker devices and such boutique stuff (that I know of at least).
The amp I'm getting is a 1 channel amp, which I'll run clean right before breakup (for that nice dynamic type of sound - play harder to push it into overdrive). I'm always running my guitars at full whack on volume, never liked the volume knob fiddling to de-gain my sound.
What I'm getting at is that I want to be able to run the amp cleanish, overdriven and more distorted/fuzzy. And I just plain like pedals. :P
My style of music is 60s/70s inspired poppish rock - think R.E.M, britpop, that kind of stuff.
Oh, and the Wampler Euphoria was just a tad bit more expensive than the Fulltone OCD - I'll check them both out when I get the chance.

The Maxon OD9 is true bypass , I'd setup the amp for a semi dirty tone then use an OD with the vol all the way up and the drive all the way to boost it a bit

Re: Overdrive pedal suggestions

Check out the Nobels ODR-1. Ugly as hell, but I love it. Served me very well while I had it.

Re: Overdrive pedal suggestions

I'm thinking you should really shop for an amp that has the exact gain level you're wanting to use most of the time. There's a lot of amps out there that you don't have to run clean, then spend another $150 to get gain out of it.

I'd suggest buying something like the Tiny Terror or Dark Terror, because it's got good gain, but you can always back the gain down.

Personally, the H&K Tube Meister stuff impresses me the most, plugging in straight out of the box.
