Ozzy's No More Tears

Re: Ozzy's No More Tears

thanks dude, mmmm i use a epiphone les paul standard and a little marshall MG15cd, so its no big equipment, and i dont have pedal effects or things like that:27:

Re: Ozzy's No More Tears

So i wil be honest and clear. You are skilled ,but not really concentrated on riffing. So your melodies and your "lead " is great. But the riffing is "loose" ,the tone is too "wide" ,and not tight!!
Your harmonics are great.
As i said ,IMHO you have to "concantrate" yourself more on the music not palying ,co's as i hear you are really good on lead parts. So play the same riffs till they get "tight".Not just your playing .but your tone have to fit the "rythm" section too.
Thanx for sharing
Ps:You have to shut your mic preamp down on your computer. It will solve the problem with the "volume drop"!!!

Re: Ozzy's No More Tears

that is constructive criticism! thanks dude, bout the riffing, ill practice those parts to get them right, but with the tone... my gear is not the best... so maybe when i learn a bit more about tone, i really dont know much...
thanks for listening:)

Heheh Thanx man!!!I love your style!!:laugh2:
There are different ways to tighten your Riffing
!)you can concentrate on your picking hand ,get closer to the strings and use the very edge of the pick!
2)You can change your bridge PU!!
3)You can tweak your gain and mids.Rythm tracks need mostly less gain (Less sustain and saturations means mostly more compact and defined tone)and scoop a little to make the sound more compressed!:fingersx:
4)you can hit harder and get a "fat" hitting punch ,that makes the riff "punchier".
5)mostly the best solo tones are faaar awaay from the riffing tones ,so it is clear that you have to use more than 2 tones.
6)you can mix the same amp in 2 different EQs wich will give a more stereo effect and punch!
7)Just write a solo and try to riff on it.I mean riff jamming is really funny. You will see the whole song writing process from the "rythm "side. It is a huge step!!!Because a good riff can make every song good. But not a good solo!!!
So keep on Jamming and Recording Bro!!!I want to hear the same stuff improved!!!

Re: Ozzy's No More Tears

very nice ozzy flair.
at the beginning it's a little muddy.
the recording is imo best in terms of overall sound and authenticity
from about 1:23 to 2:00 .. also 2:40 to 3:05

the lead parts in this timewindows would need a little more punch.

hope it helps

rock on

Sounds awesome man. I have a question though. I've never been able to get my harmonics to sound like Zakk Wylde's (not that I've really been trying hard lately to do it). Where is he playing those roaring harmonics in this song? I wanna go home and give it a try.

Re: Ozzy's No More Tears

Zakk plays em ( at least the way I play them) are on the 3rd and 5th fret, and then you find that harmonic spot on the string on the E.

O BTW that was some really good playing. Keep it up:smokin:

Yeah that's where I've been playing them. I just can't get it to sound as wylde as zakk's (I'm sorry that was a cheesy use of his name...haha...oh well). I'll try to practice it more and crank my gain as high as possible.

Re: Ozzy's No More Tears

Not bad. Like Daemon said "A little loose on the rhythm".

Sounds like you're recording with a PC mic. Not very good quality...That being said, I like your tone. That tiny POS Marshall sounds pretty good. Just need to cut out some of the other noise and balance volume with the backing track.

I recorded that song a couple of months ago. I hit the harmonics, but not very consistently.

Dig your pick into the string hard and scrape the meat of your thumb on the string at the same time.

Re: Ozzy's No More Tears

NUNOSLASH: Very cool! I would have liked to hear the solo not doubled up though. Unless both versions are spot on, it sounds a little messy & garbled IMHO.

Damn fine job though!! :bigthumb:

There are 3 points to achieve this kind of harmonic
1)thick strings
2)the position where you hit the string(mostly on 24,3/4 scale on the "end " of the neck Pu ,at a 25.5" mostly on the Neck Pu!)
3)4 time bending with 2 fingers on the Frett
this will give you

Re: Ozzy's No More Tears

thanks for all the comments dudes, about the harmonics, yeah as dgk2448 said i also play them on the 3rd fret, but i couldnt that exact same note, i think is maybe the tuning??(that string is tuned 1 step below i think...) so ill keep practicing them.
Budweiser, i agree the solos are not equal, but i think that sounds better that way, for me maybe:) , thanks tough for the recommendation

Thanks again to all for the critics and comments!:)

"2)the position where you hit the string(mostly on 24,3/4 scale on the "end " of the neck Pu ,at a 25.5" mostly on the Neck Pu!) "

what does that exactly mean?? 24 3/4?? inches or what??? inches? frets??
