the connection bit on the back of the p 90 Neck where it wire leaves the pickup. does that sit at the top or bottom of the pickup when placed in. I've been told bottom (bottom as if your playing the guitar).

I just place it where it's most conveniet for threading the cable through the body rout. It really makes no difference on the sound.

If the two magnets are equal strength, it won't matter for tone. It will make a difference if one is stronger than the other though.

Funguy: Thanks for asking this !

I'm hoping to put a P90 in my guitar soon and I would very likely end up wondering the same thing....then delaying the install while I waited for answers.

Enjoy the P90

how will i find out which magnet is stronger?

I've never heard of a P90 designed with unbalanced magnets, so I'd say it doesn't matter. Just do it whichever way fits best in your guitar.

My understanding is the magnets start out equal but because you have the same poles facing each other (N to N or S to S) one weakens the other and becomes more dominant over time.

With that in mind I will often put a pair of magnets with one pre-weakened in my P90's so I have the weak and strong magnets exactly where I want them.
