My son gave me a p-bass clone for Christmas - well set up, nice neck - everything seems fine except the pickups. I tried to adjust the height but one of them was stuck down on one side...
so-o-o... I took it apart to see how it works - much to surpsie there are no springs (I've only worked with guitar pickups so far). The pickups are mounted with long wood screws into the body... there is some kind of foam or rubber base on the bottom of the pickup that kind of pushes it up - but not far enough it seems on the one pickup.
Is this the normal way p-bass pickups are mounted?
I'm thinking of taking it back and seeing if the guitar store tech can show me how to adjust it better - or perhaps he'll just say sorry and replace it - yeah, right - I don't know.
Down the road I will buy some better pickups, but I would rather get these working as well as I can since my son paid good money for it.
