P-Rails for a Multiscale?

Hi Folks,

It's been a while since I've troubled the good people on this board, but I'm a little stuck. I'm having a 6 string baritone, multi-scale guitar built and I'd very much like it to have just the one bridge pickup. What I do want however, is some tonal options and based on a few videos I've seen, the P-Rails seems a good option. The issue being that I'd need it angled.

I've mailed SD, but have yet to receive a response. Do you think it's highly unlikely that they would build a slanted version? I've been thinking maybe a mini-bucker/rails version as well, but I'm far from qualified.

I had a feeling this might be the case.

If I'm honest, for the right pickup the extra cost might well be worth it. Depending on how much extra is of course.

They could possibly build it on the Epiphone nighthawk (I think that's what it's called) baseplate. I would first suggest they start with the Trembucker P-Rails bobbin. The problem is, the cover for it would have to be drawn, and totally cut by hand as a one-off. Not impossible, you'll just pay for the labor time.

Interesting! I have a '93 Nighthawk Custom that'd I love to have a P-Rails in, but figured the one piece top would make it impossible. Guess not!

Let us know what they say about this slanted P-Rail.

Well, it kind of does make it impossible without a totally one-off cover. I can't speak for the Custom Shop whether they're even willing to entertain a project like that, nor how much it would cost, I'm just saying what has to happen IF they wanted to make it.

Hi Folks and thanks for the responses. The cover would be a tricky one, but I figure that without it, it will just be 3 bobbins on the base plate. If mini-bucker bobbins and a single blade bobbin could be tilted, I don't think that would look too bad. I could be wrong though.

Still no word from the Custom Shop, so I may drop them a chaser.
