P-rails paired with high output HB

Looking for some opinions on next guitar project because this forum is awesome...

My next guitar project is going to be a Warmoth Tele. This will be a Tele in looks only, don't really want a pure Tele sound. I am set on a P-rails in the neck and want a high output HB that will match up with it.

I am still in planning mode but I think I am going to go for a Korina body with quilt maple top. Neck will most likely be Maple with either Pau Ferro or something similar for fretboard.

Still trying to decide between the thinline and the Deluxe.

Have always liked heavy guitars but am curious about a guitar with a F hole.

The modes I am concerned matching well with are the HB/P-90 combo and the HB split/P-rail rail combo.

I already have guitars with a JB, Super distortion, and Hot rails so I want this HB to have a more modern heavy sound than these but still match up with the P-rails.

These SD's have interested me. Would they match up well?
1. Alt 8
2. Invader
3. Distortion

If not SD which Dimarzio would work better?

Re: P-rails paired with high output HB

I've been thinking about doing some mods to my Epi LP, and was also thinking about a high output HB for bridge (maybe an SH-12 Screamin Demon) and a p-rails neck. I am leaning towards getting a Triple Shot for p-rails.

For your tele project, I've always liked thinlines for the light weight and added resonance.

One thing I wonder about is the SD statement that "P-Rails are best used in a matched neck and bridge set". Why?

It's got nothing to do with compatibility with other pickups. I think the only reason Evan added that to the copy is because of the way they hum-cancel, and because of the way that the 2/4 Strattiness of the rails coils together is part of the magic. It's kind of like saying "they're the most fun when used as a set" but I have lots of ideas for guitars with just one of the P-Rails. (P-Rails neck in a Tele, P-Rails bridge w/2 Cool Rails, etc.)

I love the idea of a P-Rails neck with an Alternative 8 bridge. The P-Rails, even if you only wired it as a humbucker, would be a great match for the Alt8.

I wrote more about all the ceramic artillery pickups (including 500T and Super Distortion) just recently, a search for 500T and my name might bring it up.

The Invader is probably out unless you already now you want it. it is extremely warm and fat but really not a normal guitar pickup.

The DD is a high-gain ceramic hard-hitter that has some sparkle of aggressive highs compared to other similar pickups. Very good to defend yourself against the mad keyboarder in a Epic or Symphonic metal band. But not everybody's taste.

More in some other post, maybe I find the link...

Re: P-rails paired with high output HB

The P-Rails neck pickup would definitely have no problem hanging with a high-output bridge humbucker. I found it very "shreddy" (in a pleasant) way in series mode.
