P-Rails, SC in Tele - wiring question

Re: P-Rails, SC in Tele - wiring question

Absolutely! He's actually quite handy for an 18 y.o.
Most fun we've had building something together since pinewood derby in cub scouts.

Thanks again.

That is one seriously coo and unique Tele! Congrats on a completed project!

Thanks! We weren't quite sure how to finish her since the 3 pieces of wood had very different grain, so we decided to make lemonades out of lemons and go with a beachy, weathered look.
I'm really liking the PRails in the bridge position so far. Of course the rail coil doesn't sound exactly like a regular tele bridge PU, but it's good enough for me.

I get it. The rail is 1 rail of a Hot Rails, so it is more powerful and mid-focused than a Tele pickup. It would be interesting to design a P-Rail with a Tele coil, though.

I believe that is not only an idea that would have a lot of interest from the Buying Public, but also quite feasible considering it is an achievable tweak to an existing product vs something completely new from the ground up.

I started out with just wanting a p-90. So I thought why not try that + a humbucker + a single, not really expecting an authentic tele bridge tone.
The P-90 coil and the full HB sound just like they're supposed to and the rail is an added bonus that I think I will use more than I initially thought I would.
I actually stuck with 500k pots, btw.
Win-win

With 500K pots, as you switch thru the switch positions 1 -5 , do you find the need to play around with the tone control setting a lot? Which positions? etc.

Actually not that much. The only position where I may use the tone pot more than usual (I generally don't use it much) is 3 (rail coil), which sounds pretty trebly.
But then again, it is a tele after all.
Hope that makes sense.
