P-Rails Tele wiring help - two mini toggles, 3 way switch

I'm putting together a Warmoth Tele with two P-Rails, and want to check my wiring diagram. SD includes diagrams for VVTT with 2 mini toggles, and VT with one. So this is combining those. I've only done a few wiring jobs, but none with mini toggles. Anyone interested in looking at this and letting me know if I've got it right? Thanks!

Re: P-Rails Tele wiring help - two mini toggles, 3 way switch

I should say that the goal of this configuration is to be able to independently set the pickups to any of the three settings.

BTW, it's not too late to consider the Triple Shot, as the body (rear route) hasn't arrived from Warmoth yet. But I'm leaning toward mini toggles because it seems like the TS would be kind of fussy, and I'm not sure about doing this little switches on the fly, live, etc. So any input on that helpful too.

Are you aware that Parallel mode is a 4th option, and a number of users of this pickup have reported that the Parallel mode is very good on this pickup, some evennprefer it to Series mode.

Consider installing Triple Shots as a first *temporary* phase to explore all the sounds/modes, then remove and replace with mini-switches to get you the sounds that you actually liked, and in a more ergonomicallly friendly on-the-fly switching method than what the Triple Shots can supply.

That wiring diagram looks good, no obvious errors.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. Given this diagram, what would it take to convert from series to parallel? I don't mind doing the wiring back and forth as I've been having some fun with that. But I don't know enough about the electronics, the why, to figure it out (that's my next goal).

I don't believe it is possible to wire a single on-off-on switch to yield the three results of parallel, P-90 alone or rail alone, or even parallel, series, and one coil. Maybe someone else knows of a way (?)

But what would work as a quick-and-dirty with the on-off-on switches that you have, is to wire each one like in the diagrams below. Even though these diagrams are designed around an on-on-on type switch (there are 2 types of on-on-on switch, hence 2 diagrams are attached), that wiring will still work with your on-off-on switches to flip between series and parallel mode. It is just a less-than-ideal method because middle position of the on-off-on switch would be a deadspot (no output), but again you would just be doing this temporarily to evaluate series mode vs parallel mode.
The wiring for Black wire from the switch still goes to the pickup selector blade switch like in your original diagram, and green and bare wires still go from the switch to ground like in your original diagram.

If you have on-ON-on switches like in the diagrams below , then the same wiring below would achieve the series, parallel and coilsplit (p-90) options. If you wanted that coilsplit to be the rail coil instead, you would swap places of where black and green&bare are wired to the switch, and swap places of red and white wires. Even with the swap, black wire still needs to go from the switch to the pickup selector blade switch, and green&bare still needs to go from the switch to ground.

That's pretty cool, I think I see what's going on there. I'll give it a shot. Thanks so much for putting that together

Point of clarification: for your on-off-on switch, it does not matter which of the two diagrams i posted earlier you follow to wire up the on-off-on switch.

Re: P-Rails Tele wiring help - two mini toggles, 3 way switch

I haven't received the body yet, so I could wire it but not test it. I think I'll do the series version first, make sure that's working, then when I'm happy with it, wire the parallel version, and I'll let you know how that goes. I'm curious too.

Cool. Yes, please report back when you do.
