P90- Humbucker Combo

I'm trying to finalize pickups for one of my builds. The neck will have a SD vintage P90 and for the bridge I am trying to decide between a Pearly Gates or Saturday Night Special. Any thoughts which will pair better with the P90?

Both could work, IMO.

I haven't tried either, but I love the '59B/Phat Cat N and the WLH-B/Phat Cat N pairings.

Welcome to the forum!

I couldn't imagine either one being bad. Pick the EQ and power output you like. I like the EQ of the SNS better, but that is just a personal preference. Make sure you come back and post in-progress pics!

This is my favorite combo. I pair a Duncan Vintage P90 with a Ant humbucker with a Unoriented roughcast A5.

Agreed! Though I found the stock variations of each pickup to be lacking EVER SO SLIGHTLY. replacing the A5 in the 59 with an A4 brought it to life, and replacing the A2's in the PC with A3/A5 did the same.

It really depends on what you are going for. The SNS is a moderate output pickup with a well balanced tone and the PGb is a PAF output pickup with a bit of a mid hump. It works fairly well at slightly distorted settings while the SNS tends to like a bit more gain.

Both should work well with a Vintage P90.
