P90 that yields Strat-like tone on an Epi LP/SG?

Is there such a thing?
(And yes, I know that the right way to get the Strato tone is with single coils proper. To sum up a long history, guitars in my country are about as heavy in your pocket as some lower-end automobiles in the US, so basically I need to choose one guitar and make the most of it, hence the question in topic)

I have installed in my Les Paul Deluxe, a set of STK-P90's. These are the noiseless pickups. The neck pick up is wired in parallel and gets me close to a strat sound. The bridge pick up is wired in series, not really strat like but nice all the same. The reason why I wired in series was for the fact that in parallel the bridge pick up was quiter than the neck. Series wiring gives about 6db boost from what I've read. It is louder now, but I honestly couldn't tell you how many db's louder. This combination is a good mix and I use it in live situations.

You'll get closer to a single-coil sound with an SG Classic. They come with P90's, though the stock pups aren't anything to write home about.

P-90s will get you nowhere near a Strat sound (why I like them)....too thick, not enough quack. An SG and Strat are such radically different animals....bridges, body and neck wood, even headstock type (in-line vs. 3+3) will all impact it's tone.

I get some cool tele-like sounds with my semi hollow Sheraton loaded with Phat Cats.

Not stratty, but a tele is a cool sound.

Sorry for the negative,but if you want the strat tone,well,you really need to get a strat....It's the sad but factual reality.

A Gibson P90 tone is pretty heavy and borders on being like a humbucker....Very unlike a vintage style wound single coil..

That's why I suggested the GFS pickup. It's advertised as a P90 in humbucker size, but it doesn't have the girth of a real P90. It does, however, have a great wiry, stringy tone that's as close to a Strat-in-a-Gibson sound as I've ever had.

It will not sound exactly like a strat, but...

You can mount a single coil in the neck pickup cavity with or without an adapter ring. Or a Strat rails pickup.

You can mount a mini-humbucker (Firebird or Les Paul Deluxe style rather than hotrails/coolrails style)

You could also get 4 conductor pickups and do some fancy wiring like series/ parallel switches, spin-a-split (search this forum) or spin-a-somethin-ruther (search this forum). A humbucker in parallel is brighter and lower output than the standard series connection. But still not a strat pup.

You could also start with a strat and add humbuckers, but again, it will not sound exactly like an LP or SG.

I really have to say I get a close SRV tone with the STK-90 in the neck position of my Les Paul Deluxe.
