Padauk homemade rock monster

I've had this done for a while, but never posted pics. 2 piece padauk body. I got the wood from my local hardwood supplier. Traced my brother's Charvel for a template. The wood is so dense and heavy, I wanted something a little smaller than a standard Strat. Light oil finish, maybe 2-3 coats of Tru. OFR trem, Duncan Custom pickup, neck is from Jamerson off Ebay. 10" radius and what they call an asymmetrical back contour, which is nice and chunky. Sounds great. It's bright like I thought it would be, but not piercing. It's also got some nice chunky lows too. The mids off the Custom really shine through for leads.

Nice ,I got this I want to start on as soon as I finish my Paduak SG

Thanks everyone. It's a nice player.

ChAoZ, I'd love to see yours when it's done. Padauk is such a great tone wood, but messy red dust everywhere, and hard to work with. Splinters like crazy.

Super clean and simple. Nice grain on the body and a nice contast with the neck. Well done.

Mine is coming along nicely ,just needs some fine tuning and a $#!+load of sanding before the Tru-Oil goes on

That's probably the best body shape I've seen with a hockey stick head stock. It's because the upper cutaway compliments it.

Padauk is so bad@ss!!!. This Washburn USA Padauk Custom Idol from Boogie Street Guitars started my GAS to own a guitar made from Padauk wood. I can't believe it's been 7 years since they put out the limited run of 50 Padauk Idols. I have to keep my eye out on the used market for one.
