PAFs = Metal?

I've been saying this for a long time: "with the right amp, a good PAF pickup will do just about anything." I made a little 30 second riff video to see what others thought. I took my Hamer USA Artist Korina, with Seymour Duncan "Ultimates" PAF style pickups, and plugged directly into my 5150. There's a BBE 422 and an eq in the loop. That's it. And I used the crappy digital camera microphone to record the sound, along with the limitations that youtube and computer speakers have.

What do you think? Semi-solid body + PAFs = Metal?

Oh, yeah. I'm also a fan of semi-hollow guitars for metal. Loaded with PAFs of course- high output pickups get out of control in the low end. You just need to turn up the mids and down the gain there and let that huge chunk take over. Argh.

Yeah, I was getting ready for a job interview. I would have put the tie on, but I figured that would be too "un-metal."

By the way, the pre-gain was on 5. Gotta love the 5150.

And yeah, as far as the sound being thin, that's the camera mike. It was thick as balls.
