I currently have the Norton in my RG560. I find it a bit much in the bass/lower mids for my taste. A little too big sounding. If I could take out a bit of the fullness of the Norton it would probably do the trick.
It's that certain balance between PAF bite vs. enough mids/fullness to stand out for lead guitar. Of course magnet type and output come into play as well. I like the Suhr SSV+ and the pearly gates plus as choices to try out...
Since you brought up DiMarzios, have you looked at the Norton or the 36th Anniversary or the 36th Anniversary Bridge or the PAF Master??
