Since you brought up DiMarzios, have you looked at the Norton or the 36th Anniversary or the 36th Anniversary Bridge or the PAF Master??

I currently have the Norton in my RG560. I find it a bit much in the bass/lower mids for my taste. A little too big sounding. If I could take out a bit of the fullness of the Norton it would probably do the trick.

It's that certain balance between PAF bite vs. enough mids/fullness to stand out for lead guitar. Of course magnet type and output come into play as well. I like the Suhr SSV+ and the pearly gates plus as choices to try out...

The Regular SSV may also already be hot enough, too. It's not really too hot, but it's really punchy.

Custom...has a ceramic mag but sounds like a hot 59.

Find a BB3, or put an A5 mag in a 496R.

Brobucker is 10K, Mod 78 is 9K. I play in two bands, one is metal and the other is blues and I have tried both humbuckers, IMO the Mod 78 does the job perfectly. It has that brown sound. It has more bite than the Brobucker (the Bro has more body) and can drive that distortion beutifull for either high gain or moderate gain. Or just clean.

I sometimes wonder idly whether a Saturday Night Special would sound a lot like my Brobucker if I were to replace the SNS's A4 with UA5 to sorta approximate a degaussed A5. I sure like A4 humbuckers though. If I did get the SNS I'd probably love it just the way it came.

Actually, the 78 sounds mighty appealing too. I hadn't ever really considered that one. But I've got my eye on a set of Thornbuckers right now.
