this is my cousins guitar. he came up with this crazy idea to paint the pick guard chrome.

this is what it looked like before with a white pickguard....

i painted it with krylon. it seems to be clinging to the plastic well so far. its the kind that will work on wood, plastic or metal.
looks pretty sick to me.:D looks kinda wierd with the rose wood finger board.
i tried to tell him it wont stay on and eventually it will come off....oh well. it aint my guitar...whatdayya think? :smack:

What kinda paint did you use again? Silver Krylon spraypaint?

I wanna paint my Warmoth that color if I ever build it

I think it's pretty cool. If he really likes it, for about $30 he can pick one up that's actually chrome.

Where can I get that? I've been trying to find a way to spice up my Ibanez.

You know that guitar in one of Jane's Addiction's videos? The really shiny chrome Les Paul... THAT ROCKS!!!!!! I SOOOOOOOOO WANT IT!!!! LOL...

we used krylon original chrome sray paint. its like 5$ a can. the black can with a chrome lid.

I’ve also seen aluminum on eBay that rocks. GJ has one on his strat, I’ll see if I can turn up another picture in a little while.

looks good. but ill tell you the first thing thats gonna happen though. when he starts strumming on it, the pick will scrape the pickguard and eventually scrape the paint right off of it. :o
I never was a fan of silver on red buy hey it looks cool anyway. :smoker:

About the paint wearing off... if you don't want the "relic" look too early maybe you could put a couple of clear coats on it or something? Thats what I'd do.
