Palomino speaker ?

I like the tone of my V- 32 Palomino :fingersx: , yet I would like to tighten up the bottom end some. What speaker would you recommend? Also, does anyone know what model of celestion is in the stock V- 32 palomino. thanks, Joe

Re: Palomino speaker ?

The stock Celestion for the Palomino was a 70/80. I disliked how the bottom would flub out, so I changed it out for a Hellatone 30 (it's an already broken in G12H30 and somehow it costs less too... Dave from Avatar offers it). I'm happy with that speaker in it, although I've never tried the Tone Tubby people swear by so I can't give you a comparison there.

Thanks for the info Chris.
I don't have Tone Tubby type cash  Would an eminence wizard be comparable tonewise to the Hellatone?

You're welcome for the info :)

I've just never gotten around to investing enough cash for the Tone Tubby because I'm busy spending the cash on my more worthwhile gear projects (I've found what works, but it's my backup amp so it gets second dibs) :27:

I wouldn't even go Eminence because the Hellatone is dirt cheap. It can be bought new from Dave (from Avatar Speakers) for $87 shipped (pretty hard to beat a speaker that good, especially for the price).

In case you're interested, check out avatarspeakers.com (I don't work for them or am affiliated with them in any way, but Dave's a standup guy and the speaker kicks with the Palomino).

Oh yeah.....that is the way to go if it fixes the little bit of mushy bottom end. Thanks again Chris.

I've gotta ask, does it get that Neil Young flub going on (Rust Never Sleeps)?

I don't normally use that much gain. If the wife and my son take off for a little while tonight, I'll crank her up and report back.

Re: Palomino speaker ?

Thanks, I've been considering that amp and that would just make it sweeter.
