Parallel speaker out Question.

I have a 120 watt JSX head w/ parallel speaker outs. Does this mean that if I have 2, 16 ohm cabs plugged directly into the amp, not each other, that I will need to set my amp to 8 ohms or 16. I know that 2 resistors of like value in parallel = half that value so is it the same thing or are each of those outs 16 ohms. Sorry for the dumb question but I have had conflicting answers and I'm just not tryin' to fry my head. At least not the JSX.:smokin:

2 - 16 ohm cabinets plugged into parallel outs is an 8 ohm load, you should set the head to 8 ohms.

Thanks man. Most people said this but one of my electronics instructors thinks he knows everything about guitars so I had to ask.
