Parker PM20 -Any Love?

Hey all, the Parker PM series guitars froma few years ago always kind of interested me because they had some of the cool Parker elements without breaking the bank. After 10 years of wondering, I finally just bought a used one in gold (in transit), unplayed. What can I expect? Has anybody here held on to one all these years? The price was so reasonable that I am sure I can flip it if I don't bond with it. This one's Korean made, 6-in-line hadstock with 2 knobs.

I am mainly a fan of ebony fingerboards and 25.5" scale but this has the classy goldtop look. I'm definitely going to put covers on the pickups, maybe cream pickup rings too. I will likely swap the pickups out for Duncans. Coil tap has never made me all that excited FWIW. Thinking the all-mahogany body will be more similar to an SG than a Les Paul. Not thrilled about the strings-through body, think it was a tonal choice?

There are a LOT of fans of the PM20 out there. If it's really one of the earlier, made-in-Korea ones, you're in for a treat! Stock Parker pickups aren't half bad, but even you upgrade, the rest of the guitar is a great platform.

I had a Parker P or PM something a while back. I liked it well enough, but it ended up being used as trade fodder several years back. It played nice, and the stock pickups were great.

Re: Parker PM20 -Any Love?

I had a Parker P-36 in college (basically a Tele) and I really wish I hadn't sold it. Not the same level as the Fly and all BUT great value for the price IMO.

Re: Parker PM20 -Any Love?

These are sort of un-Parkers. I dig it, but I also love the Fly and the Mojo. Many people hate the Parkers, but to me they are groovy.

Re: Parker PM20 -Any Love?

Ya if I'm really being honest, part of my reason for buying this is that I miss my Goldtop LP and really can't afford another one.
I think the look is dead sexy and 25.5" scale!

Now what pickups do I want to drop in it? I have a set of covered Pearly Gates that might do the trick...

Re: Parker PM20 -Any Love?

Pearlies in a Parker is a win-win. I think it would rock.
