Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

I really have liked the Parker guitars I've played. If the pickups were more easily upgradeable and the woods were a bit different, I would have been sold. Nevertheless, here are two new models I think may interest some people.

I'm jonesing for this one... it's Parkers take on a Tele, check out the specs... looks awesome (a tele with piezo blending technology):

Next, all those Les Paul fans who hated the look of Parkers will LOVE this:

I'm still waiting for a mahogany/maple capped body with a maple/ebony neck S-S-H style guitar, but for now this is pretty cool. Nice to see that Parker is starting to look at their guitars a little differently.

This is just too damned cool!

Re: Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

i like the original parkers...I think their innovations are what sets them apart- these dont have the glass fiber skin, the stainless steel frets and the cool trem system, and they dont weigh under 4 pounds.

I Love The One With The Tele Pickups, How Much Do They Cost?!

Re: Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

The Tele is going to be around 800 new.

I'm torn. I'm loving the Tele, but the Les Paul looks like it's still lacking. I loved Parker's top of the line appointments: the trem, the stainless steel frets, the graphite fingerboard, but hated not being able to upgrade pickups, and the strange wood combinations would make it difficult to find pickups that would do the guitar justice.
We know the properties that most woods have, however graphite is another story.

I really do like the Parker body shape, but maybe the Les Paul shape will be more appealing to that type of crowd that originally discarded Parkers' fine instruments based on the radical look. I am happy to see some more standard wood selections being used and what looks to be easily upgradeable electronics. I just hope they don't sacrifice too much of that originality that made them stand out in the first place.

the LP looking model, like many lp copies, looks squashed and fat, i hate how it looks.. but the tele one.. thats just cool... i'll have to try one out!

Re: Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

I can't help it, but I think Parkers are the most rediculous looking things ever. Looks like a puzzle with some of the pieces missing.

Exactly. It seems Parker isn't making Parkers anymore. :smack:

Re: Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

Parkers are very cool guitars. My little brother (Fatty-Woo) has one.

Re: Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

If they are P-Series, they'll probably be made in Korea.

The tele looks OK. The LP style looks not so good.

I'd rather have a traditional parker like the new Mojo.

I have a Nitefly which I like. It's a cool guitar.

I ditto that

Re: Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

Yeah, the P series guitars are imports.

For those who can't seem to get past the appearance. Close your eyes and "try it, you'll like it." The necks on the American Parkers are amazing.

Re: Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

Yuck. I've played some American Parkers, and they do play very very well. But IMO Parker has been coming up short in the appearance department since the beginning. I've never been a fan of the body shapes.

Re: Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

I like these more, mostly because they weigh a bit more and look less like a ninja weapon than they used to. Everytime I've played them, I've been bothered by that upper horn stabbing me in the chest. I dunno, I feel like I've already found the guitars I prefer, so I'll just stick with those.

Re: Parker's coming up with some cool retro stuff

That's cool. I mostly play standing, so the horn hasn't been an issue. I happen to favor the appearence of the original fly. I like the samurai head stock. The carbon fiber covered maple necks are cool, too. The stainless steel frets mean more fret life. The light weight is nice. Parker is innovative and I respect that. I'm glad everyone doesn't like them. I'd like to pick up a Fly Mojo for a decent price one of these days. They do seem to hold their value somewhat, but I don't see them going up in price like some of the more accepted brands.
