Partscaster Problems... Again

Hi all,

So I finally finished my Partscaster project, got all strung up and plugged in only to find the JB Junior I installed sounding whisper quiet. I've got Classic Stacks in the neck and middle and they sound twice as loud! When I tap on the coils with a screwdriver, it seems that the bottom coils produce a much quieter sound than the top.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Re: Partscaster Problems... Again

It's in split mode. Something is causing the bottom coil to get grounded out. Make sure red and white are connected well and taped off.

Thanks for getting back to me. Just disconnected and rewired the pickup and now it's working fine! For future reference, do the red and white need to be soldered together or can they just be taped? I hadn't soldered them first time around.

Good news! Soldering the red and white wires together is best because thats what connects each coil in series.

How is the balance between the Classic Stacks and the JB Jr? I am a huge fan of the Classic Stacks.

There's a slight drop in volume between them, but it's not too drastic, and I guess that's to be expected switching from a humbucker to a single. Aside from that they work really nicely together, I'm starting to become a big fan too! Really like the warmth and clarity of them, they sound beautiful clean and can get some great lead tones too.
