Paul Gilbert guitar?

For some strange reason i surfed in to a Paul Gilbert fan site and i saw this photo on him and i came to wonder, what is that guitar? Looks like a beautiful viola guitar? GAS :32:

It's a PGM 700WH

Ibanez made a violin-shaped 6-string bass for me in the early 90's. This production model was the guitar version with a normal scale. I think this one was only sold in Japan. I think it looks and sounds great, but it's hard to sit down with. The body cutaways dig into my leg. So I usually put a towel on my leg when I use it in the studio. I played this a lot on the last Mr. Big tour.

Pretty cool, but it's gotta be hard to acces the upper frets. I'm sure he had no problem however.

I e-mailed Mr. Gilbert about that guitar. I asked him if he had a template for it so I could someday possibly have Warmoth build me one. He didn't have one. Ibanez might, but I don't think they'd give it away. It's a shame because those were never sold in the US and are currently discontinued
Anyway, back to Paul Gilbert. Here's his reply to my e-mail:
Hi Biu,

I don't have any templates for that guitar. I really
like that guitar, but you will always want to play it
standing up. If you sit down with it, the bottom edges
of the "violin" cutaway will cut into knee!

He's awesome! He said he put a towel on his knee to play it sitting down (Mr. Big days).

hey i saw the clip where he teaches tapping with that guitar, looks and sounds awesome!
