Damn Mephis, kinda overkill there aint it? I use a simple bolt action 22 with CB caps.

Re: Pawn shop finds...

I got an original EH memory man for $25, an old G&l bass for $130, and a Sennheiser MD421 microphone for $50. All were in good condition. I sold the pedal and the bass. I still have the microphone. When I lived in Texas I had a regular route of pawn shops I would hit once a week, and I really liked the EZ pawn places, because they had a set markdown system, based on how long the item had been in the store.

Re: Pawn shop finds...

I found an 96 Lp Standard for a Grand in brand new shape...... Saddly it was left handed and i got a friend who plays left to buy it... Thinking back i should of bought it and sold it myself to buy a right handed one, but we do not always do what is best for ourselfs..... But at least i made my buddies day by phoning him about it.

I find most Pawn Shops are charging sometimes new prices.... You really have to keep and eye out and know what you are looking at and how much things are really worth....

When i was on a camping trip on the west coast of Canada... I found a small town in the sout of BC called Grand Fort.. They had a pawn shop with a ton of guitar gear.... I bought Boss and MXR pedals for $20-$30 each.... Saddly i couldn't afford more or i would of! I found lots of cheap pedals at local pawn shops but saddly those pawn shops closed up and are gone now.....

I found a White 1999 Mexican Standard strat in new shape for $199Canadian... Found a 88 USA Strat with 3 full size EMG 81's plus hardshell case for $475 (and that is still my main guitar, i took the emg's out and put ducans in) I found a 87 Charvel Model one for $189, like new besides one ding... A 76 LP Deluxe for $700... A 5150 head for $400 and a 5150 cab for $200..... Got an all original 65 Deluxe amp for $350 and hidden in the back by the speaker was a 77 Sola FuzzWah worth $300canadian..... Classic 50 head for $250.. Classic 30 combo with Matching 1x12 cab for $475..... JCM 800 head for $500..... A 1959 Goya for $25... a 1989 Roland GP8 Multi FX unit and FC100 footboard for $20 at a Garage sale.....

Piss*d me off to hear a guy at a garage sale in my area beat me to a 50's Fender Champ for $2.... I was pretty upset i missed that.... New tubes in it and it fired up.....

Does catching a guitar that a band smashed and threw in the crowd with 3 usa Fender Single Coils in it count?.... I still have the remains of that strat....

Not really, I like to kill a skunk in 1 shot, I dont want it spraying all over my yard while its running away because a 22 didnt hurt it bad enough.

Lol, that gun is alot of fun, everything except the barrel and bolt are carbonfiber and space age elements. Nato 5.56mm

Btw, have you ever had to get a possum out of your dog's house b4 with just a stick? That Mofo was takin me on! Till I got pissed smashed his skull with a shovel.

Dont really have trouble with possums. Coons on the other hand are a different story. But, I have to say, the biggest problem animal around here are cows/bulls. Like to stand in the middle of the road and wont move for sh*t.

Re: Pawn shop finds...

A friend of mine scored a 1957 Gibson J-45 at a garage sale for ~$150.00 Canadian. The store I used to work for appraised it at ~$3500.00 US.

That was a good score for him :)

This might take care of that bovine problem Beandip :D.

I'm starting to get into airsof guns, gotta get me a FN-P90, if you know what I mean, looks cool. Sadly there aren't people around here that carry this things and people are still in the paintball age.

Re: Pawn shop finds...

I got a Hohner LP Goldtop copy at a car boot sale for £20, I need to do a bit of DIY routing but it will soon be played again...

Also a Boss VB-2 Vibrato I bought for about £40~50 (can't remember) when I was 16, sold it last year for the princely sum of £205 :)

Re: Pawn shop finds...

In about 1989 I picked up a 1976 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe for $475.00 from a music store.

Re: Pawn shop finds...

My pawn shops tend to charge preices that dont give so much of a "deal"....but I always look once and awile.

frankly i'm not that impressed with people who think it's fun to kill things.......

sorry bro. I dont kill things to impress, I kill to eat, keep my dogs safe, or keep my garbage in the garbage cans.

Re: Pawn shop finds...

Most of the pieces that I've got I picked up in a pawn shop somewhere. My best piece is a 1980 Dean Z Standard that I picked up for $200 back in 1989. Others are my main LP Custom that I got for $750, an incredibly beat to hell SG for $150 (it wasn't even worth that much at the time), my '78 Jazz Bass with EMGs for $400, a really nice Ovation 12 string Balladeer for $300 and that's all I can think of for the moment. I've bought some other performance gear at pawn shops, too. I love going in, finding something that I like (but not too much) and offering them half of what they're asking ('cuz you know damn well that they didn't pay that kind of money for it), then bargaining from there.
